I havent put my site online yet, well I just downloaded a8e tonight, and set it up as a test on my XAMP server. Im using the Simplicity template from Joomlashack with a drop-down menu, and installed Mojoblog too (with Grahams hack for putting in images with borders). Everything has gone well ... so far!
I was reading some of the articles on the a8e site, and it got me wondering about future development. I got the feeling that a8e would only be supported and developed until Joomla 1.5 was released, and since that has just happenned, whats the future outlook for a8e?

BTW, whenever i try to use aa apostrophe here, the quick find box opens and the text following the apostrophe ends up in that box - very frustrating!

Welcome Dave:

Nice to hear you're trying out a8ejoomla, we hope you like it.. we do!  `Course, we're also partial to mojoBlog (which always plays nice with a8e).

On the future development of a8ejoomla:
We've every intention to continue to support a8ejoomla though, after this last incremental update (1.0.15) we're not sure how much longer the core-devs over at joomla intend to continue with "legacy" joomla revisions.

a8e-dev:
In the next month or so we/I will be rolling out a (GPL) new branch of the existing a8ejoomla code-named a8e-dev which, as a web designer/developer yourself you may be interested in. There's a quick overview published in our wiki here; http://www.a8e.org/component/option,com_mojowiki/Itemid,70/id,a8edev/

apostrophe?:
Which browser/ver are you using? I've no problems with apostrophe's in FF(both Mac/PC) or IE7 (OSX/parallels/xp).
